Bluetooth MIDI connectivity

It is now possible to connect the Sheet Music Direct App to any Bluetooth MIDI compatible device to enable digital sheet music playback through that device. Please find specific instructions below for connecting Roland Digital Pianos to the Sheet Music Direct App.

Connecting the SMD App with the Roland LX-17, LX-7, HP605, HP603 or HP601:
1.     Turn the piano on
2.     Go to Function settings by pressing [Ambience] and [Brilliance] buttons simultaneously, or by pressing the Function button. 
3.     Press the right arrow button to scroll to Bluetooth MIDI/Pageturn
4.     Select MIDI by pressing the [-][+] buttons
5.     On your iPad, turn Bluetooth ON
6.     Open the SMD App
7.     Tap the gear mark in the bottom right corner
8.     Tap “Bluetooth MIDI Playback Devices” then “Pair MIDI Device”. A pop-up window will display.
9.     Tap the name of the piano you would like to connect to.
10.    Tap elsewhere on the screen to make the pop-up window disappear.
11.    Tap the gear mark again, go to “Bluetooth MIDI Playback Devices” and tap the piano’s name.
 
Connecting the SMD App with the Roland GP607, DP603, FP-90, FP-60, FP-30, RP102, KF-10 or Go Piano:
(*the steps below are applied when the piano’s status is updated to the latest version and “Factory-set”)
1.     Turn the piano on
2.     On your iPad, turn Bluetooth ON
3.     Open the SMD App
4.     Tap the gear mark in the bottom right corner
5.     Tap “Bluetooth MIDI Playback Devices” then “Pair MIDI Device”. A pop-up window will display.
6.     Tap the name of the piano you would like to connect to.
7.     Tap elsewhere on the screen to make the pop-up window disappear.
8.     Tap the gear mark again, go to “Bluetooth MIDI Playback Devices” and tap the piano’s name.
*If these steps don’t establish connection between your device and the piano, please refer to the owner’s manual of your Roland Piano. 
 
Connecting the SMD App with the Roland F-140R1 or RP501R:
1.     Turn the piano on
2.     In Function mode ([Metronome]+[Split] buttons), select “F15” and press the [start/stop] button.
3.     Use the [-][+] buttons to select “On” and then press the [start/stop] button.
4.     Select “F16” and press the [start/stop] button.
5.     Use the [-][+] buttons to select “-n-” and then press the [start/stop] button.
5.     On your iPad, turn Bluetooth ON
6.     Open the SMD App
7.     Tap the gear mark in the bottom right corner
8.     Tap “Bluetooth MIDI Playback Devices” then “Pair MIDI Device”. A pop-up window will display.
9.     Tap the name of the piano you would like to connect to.
10.    Tap elsewhere on the screen to make the pop-up window disappear.
11.    Tap the gear mark again, go to “Bluetooth MIDI Playback Devices” and tap the piano’s name.
